HOW TO TAKE THE AMATEUR RADIO LICENCE
In order to become an amateur radio, the international rules stipulate that the operator is
in possession of a licence certifying his knowledge at a theoretical and practical level, and
of a call and relative general authorisation which are assigned by the Ministry of Economic
Development after obtaining the licence. This licence is issued in Italy by the territorial
inspectorates after passing a structured examination on a single theory test, based on
multiple-response quizzes on the following topics:
- Electronics
- Radiotechnics
- National and international regulations
STEP1-THE OPERATOR LICENSE OF AMATEUR RADIO STATION
The licence is issued by the territorial inspectorates of the Ministry
Economic development as a result of passing exams. The exam consists of a written test on the topics
Mentioned in the first part of the program and consists of multiple-response quizzes.
EXEMPTION:
Are exempt from written evidence the aspirants in possession of one of the following titles:
- Certificate of 1st Class Radiotelegrapher;
- Certificate of 2st Class Radiotelegrapher;
- Special Certificate of Radiotelegraphist;
- Qualification Diploma of board Radiotelegrapher issued by a professional Institute of state;
- General Certificate of GMDSS operator;
- Degree in engineering in the class of information engineering or equivalent;
- Diploma of technician in electronics or equivalent obtained at a State technical Institute
STEP 2 - REQUEST OF THE CALL NAME
Once you get your license, you will need to ask for the call station name. The name will be requested to the Ministry of Economic Development in Rome.
STEP 3-DECLARATION OF ACTIVITY START AND GENERAL AUTHORIZATION REQUEST
Within 30 days of receipt of the name, the person concerned must send to the Territorial Inspectorate

CONTRIBUTIONS
The examination contribution for obtaining the qualification for the performance of the Amateur radio service

of Euro 5.00, by way of reimbursement of the costs incurred for the activity referred to in art. 1 paragraph 1 of annex 25
of the Electronic Communications Code.

POWER LIMITS
The stations of the amateur radio service can operate with the following maximum powers, defined as power
Peak (P.E.P.): Fixed or mobile/portable 500 W.
